Abstract:

This paper is based on the project “Design and Fabrication of Vacuum Groundnut Dryer”. This is a design innovative project. The project provides solution for drying groundnuts in efficiently and economically.
Groundnut is one of the major oil seeds of India. In our Country the drying of unshelled groundnut is carried out mostly in natural lights which take longer times. Moreover the harvesting of groundnut takes place during rainy season, which affects the drying time and quality. Groundnut accounts for around 28% of the total oilseed production of the country. Annual production of seed and oil are around 5-8 and 1.5 million tons respectively. Due to industrialization of Indian economy, labour cost is becoming high for agricultural and related activities. Labour availability is also less. So there is need for alternative method in agricultural processes. Like most other agriculture crops, groundnuts are semi perishable and their quality during storage can be deteriorated through microbial proliferation, insect and rodent infestation, loss of flavor, viability and rancidity due to biochemical changes as well as absorption of certain odours and chemicals.  After going through the advantages and principles of the vacuum drying technique, and keeping the problems faced by the Indian farmers in mind, an attempt has been made for drying groundnut with the help of vacuum energy. That’s this project called VACUUM GROUNDNUT DRYER. The operating characteristics of the vacuum drying process result in significant advantages in terms of productivity, quality and energy consumption.

INTELLIGENT COOLING SYSTEM

Posted by tpapers On 3:22 am 0 comments
 Abstract:

Our paper aims at controlling the flow rate of coolant by regulating the valve by implementing FUZZY LOGIC. In conventional process the flow rate is constant over the entire engine jacket. These effects in over heating and excessive cooling, which induces thermal stresses & reduction in efficiency.. The flow rate of coolant will be controlled by control unit & intelligent sensors. In this system the sensor will sense the cylinder temperature as similar as thermostat and will control the opening and closing of water passage in the piston cylinder arrangement. The mass flow rate of water will be controlled by a valve arrangement. If the temperature of the engine cylinders increases, the sensor will sense the temperature and the signal is given to the control unit and it controls the valve opening resulting in increase in the flow rate. Similarly when the engine retards the temperature of the cylinder decreases which will be sensed by the sensor and will operate the valve. It helps in improving thermal efficiency and mechanical efficiency.

Abstract:

When a metal is formed, its material properties change compared to the virgin 'as delivered' material. These changes can have an important effect on the performance of the resulting part in service. Corus has developed advanced techniques to incorporate the new material properties resulting from forming operations into CAE models that predict e.g. Crash or Fatigue behaviour. Presented at the LS-DYNA conference.

Abstract:

The application of simulation models in sheet metal forming in the automotive industry has proven to be beneficial to reduce tool costs at the designing stage and for optimising current processes. Moreover, it is a promising tool for a material supplier to optimise material choice and development for both its final application and its forming capability. The present practice requires a high predictive value of these simulations. A first stage is to implement the improved material models which describe this single strain path behaviour in a better way. Results are compared with predictions using Marciniak-Kuczinsky-analysis with both the new material model and the conventional material model. Finally, the validation on real pressed products is shown by comparing simulation results using different material models with the experimental data. The test required to measure the required material data are described in this conference paper.

Abstract:

Every minute, on an average, at least one person dies in a crash. Even the latest advances in the fields of science and technology we have developed safety systems, such as air bags and seat belts, which save tens and thousands of people. But the ultimate solution, and the only one that will save far more lives and limbs, is to keep the cars away from crashing.
Adaptive cruise control {ACC) is an expansion of the existing cruise control systems , which in general maintain the vehicle speed through a link in the vehicle power train. With the help of this ACC, we not only sense the occurrence of a collision, instead we can even minimize the effect of a collision or altogether prevent the collision itself.
Here, we can always maintain a set head way distance between the host & the preceding vehicle. Thus by always maintaining a certain distance between the two vehicles we can avoid the collision. In order to do so, it will control the host vehicle speed by activating the throttle valve or by applying brakes, under the control the processor.
It involves a millimeter wave radar technology that promises to make driving easier. If we are able to incorporate Global Positioning System {GPS} along with adaptive cruise control, then there comes a day where Driverless automobiles will become a reality.

Abstract:

This study set out to evaluate the effectiveness of antilock brake system (ABS) technology on motorcycles in reducing real-life injury crashes and to mitigate injury severity. The study comprised an analysis of in-depth fatal crash data in Sweden during 2005-2008 to investigate the potential of ABS as well an estimate of the effectiveness of ABS in crash reduction in Sweden between 2003 and 2008 using induced exposure methods. Findings show that head-on collisions were the least ABS-affected crash types and collisions at intersections the most influenced. Induced exposure analysis showed that the overall effectiveness of ABS was 38 percent on all crashes with injuries and 48 percent on all severe and fatal crashes, with a minimum effectiveness of 11 and 17 percent, respectively. The study recommends the fitment of ABS on all new motorcycles as soon as possible and that customers only purchase motorcycles with ABS.

Abstract:

At present, there is no system available to back the vehicle. At times when the front wheel gets into a trench it is very difficult to take the vehicle from parking. Even normal people face much problem to take the vehicle out of the parking at that time. Incase of the handicapped people who drive two wheelers with extra support wheels, face much problem to take the vehicle out of the parking by pushing the vehicle with legs as we do. In order to take the vehicle out of the parking they need to seek others help or they should push it out of the parking. As a help to them we have designed a gear box which will be fit to the vehicle without altering the existing gear box. The paper deals with the design of such a gear box and the assembly process of the gear box to the vehicle. The design deals with the conditions of the gear box operation, and the design of the gear box based on easy assembly and easy manufacturing at low cost.

Abstract:

Most of the vehicle drivers seek for economical fuel consumption. Moreover fuel saving is also an important factor in today’s world. In this scenario we thought it would give fruitful results if we can show mileage on display as the vehicle runs.

Presently there is mileage recorder available in some vehicles (like Bajaj pulsar). But it can give only the mileage that is obtained between two successive refueling. Moreover it will give only the distance traveled in terms of kilometers. It’s nothing but another kilometer indicator with a reset button, from which mileage will be calculated manually.

Our electronic mileage indicator will show the mileage [in Km/lit] on a display that will be obtained if the vehicle travels at a particular load and speed. In other terms suppose if the driver is driving the vehicle with a load say 120 kg at a certain speed on a tar road, our mileage indicator will give how much km the vehicle will travel per liter of fuel. Thus the driver can know the optimized driving condition thereby saving fuel.

Abstract:

This paper is based on the project “Power Assisted Gear Shifting Mechanism for Automobiles”. This is a design, fabrication and implementation project. The project provides solution for gear shifting for the cars. The passenger cars that now ply on the road have transmission either of manual or automatic type of gear changing. The manual type of transmission is preferred for the perfect performance without a loss in power but a compromise for comfort ness. In the automatic type of power transmission there is easiness of gear shifting but there is a definite loss of power and mileage. The main objective of this project is to create a mechanism to reduce the inconvenience caused when changing gears in the car. The gear shifting here is by mere pressing of feather touch buttons present on the dash board. The gear shifting is by hydraulic force achieved by a simple modification to the gear box. This is a versatile pack, simple and can be fitted to any car equipped with hydraulic power steering. The setup consists of power steering pump, piston cylinder assembly and a set of fluid valves. This project if implemented is a clear alternative for the Automatic transmission because of its low cost and ease of use. Moreover the whole set up is small and requires a very small space. This can sure be a standard fitment if proper marketing strategy is carried out. Further, automatic clutch can be incorporated with this unit to make it fully automatic.
