Jerk in mechanical parts, in high speed applications has been major hitch that has been faced by the Design Engineers. This paper studies the vibration levels in the Rapier Weaving Machine. The machine has maximum speed of 2000 picks per minute. This is a copious attempt made by us to eliminate the vibration and ensure that the machine’s performance level goes up. In newly designed Rapier weaving machine, the reed’s movement was found to be jerky between 25 – 35 degrees of the cam rotation (with reference to the reed’s home position). As result of this jerk the beat up pressure was found to be anecdotal. This also causes a noise as the follower’s movement is not smooth in this region. As a direct effect of this, cam’s life is greatly reduced. This project attempts to solve this problem and ensures a better fabric quality from the machine. This project studies the various characteristics of dual cam or conjugate cam. This problem was set-right in the machine with the redesign of one of the dual cams considering various parameters.
