National Symposium on Rotor Dynamics - IIT Madras

December 19,20,21

Most machines have one or more rotating parts. Rotating machine elements thus form the backbone of industrial infrastructure and therefore play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the country. Rotor Dynamics is the key in design and maintenance of all such rotating machinery. This area has made tremendous strides in recent years.

ObCom 2011 - VIT

September 9

This International Conference is a major event to be conducted following the grand success of series of ObCom conferences during 2003, 2004 and 2006, which were audited by a good number of participants from Academia and Industry across the World. The past ObCom conferences received good contributions from academia, industry and research organizations. Our sponsors included governmental and non-governmental agencies like DRDO, ISTE, DIT, CSIR etc.

Abstract:

In this paper, we have tried to come up with the development of a NEW TWO-STROKE ENGINE (SI), which can be controlled by an artificial intelligence system. We know that, in a two-stroke engine, during the scavenging process the fresh charge entering the cylinder leaves the cylinder through an exhaust port.
In our engine, we have used a valve in the outlet port & in transfer port. The outlet valve controls the escapement of the fresh charge through the exhaust port and we have also used a suction pump connected at the outlet of the exhaust port. The suction pump is always on, during the engine running. The transfer port is situated at the top of the cylinder which is operated by the valve. During the expansion stroke, by the time the piston reaches the exhaust port, the exhaust valve opens. Then, due to the expansion of the burnt gases the gas molecules attain a tendency to escape from the cylinder through the exhaust port. Low pressure zone is created inside the cylinder by the suction pump. After the transfer valve opens, the exhaust valve closes within certain milliseconds. Fresh charge enters the cylinder and since the exhaust port is completely closed there is no chance of escapement of the fresh charge through the exhaust port. So we obtain better fuel efficiency and the problem like, overheating, ignition system is been taken care of by the artificial intelligence system.

1 Response to "ADVANCE TWO STROKE ENGINE (SI) CONTROLLED BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE"

  1. Keerthi Said,

Good one about 2 stoke engines. Industrial engines are popular and 2 stroke engines are more useful compared to 4 stroke engines!
