National Symposium on Rotor Dynamics - IIT Madras

December 19,20,21

Most machines have one or more rotating parts. Rotating machine elements thus form the backbone of industrial infrastructure and therefore play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the country. Rotor Dynamics is the key in design and maintenance of all such rotating machinery. This area has made tremendous strides in recent years.

ObCom 2011 - VIT

September 9

This International Conference is a major event to be conducted following the grand success of series of ObCom conferences during 2003, 2004 and 2006, which were audited by a good number of participants from Academia and Industry across the World. The past ObCom conferences received good contributions from academia, industry and research organizations. Our sponsors included governmental and non-governmental agencies like DRDO, ISTE, DIT, CSIR etc.

Abstract:

According to second law of thermodynamics, the engines can not giving the more efficiency. Due to the various losses such as heat loss, friction loss, etc. The problem of research is, improving the efficiency of four-stroke petrol run IC engine, by minimizing 12% of heat loss factor by new innovative design. Because of major heat loss, from chamber at higher temperature to wall of combustion chamber at lower temperature, actual cycle efficiency of any existing four-stroke petrol run engine is much lower than the air standard efficiency. In the new reciprocating IC engine the two circular faces of cylindrical piston are designed as boundary of two combustion chambers. The new design also has two inlet and outlet valves, an extender rod, connecting rod, crank etc., to transmit power generated. Compared with existing inline engine, V-engine, opposed piston and opposed cylinder models, the new design of four-stroke petrol run engine has minimized heat loss. In our paper heat losses can be reduced by the design of smart engine with double sided piston combustion.
