National Symposium on Rotor Dynamics - IIT Madras

December 19,20,21

Most machines have one or more rotating parts. Rotating machine elements thus form the backbone of industrial infrastructure and therefore play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the country. Rotor Dynamics is the key in design and maintenance of all such rotating machinery. This area has made tremendous strides in recent years.

ObCom 2011 - VIT

September 9

This International Conference is a major event to be conducted following the grand success of series of ObCom conferences during 2003, 2004 and 2006, which were audited by a good number of participants from Academia and Industry across the World. The past ObCom conferences received good contributions from academia, industry and research organizations. Our sponsors included governmental and non-governmental agencies like DRDO, ISTE, DIT, CSIR etc.

PLC BASED PNEUMATIC NAMEPLATE PUNCHING

Posted by tpapers On 3:04 pm
Abstract:

The main purpose of the project “PLC BASED PNEUMATIC NAMEPLATE PUNCHING” is to automate the process of punching nameplates using. The various operations in the process are controlled by the PLC and can be done using pneumatic cylinders. In several industries, punching operations are done manually. Implementation of this project will result in the increase in production, saves time and most importantly reduces the production cost. Hence, improving the economic status of the industry or company.
The material selected for nameplate is aluminium sheets of 1.2 mm thickness. The selection of this material will result in better flexibility and possibility in making our profile. The components involved in this prototype are mounted on a wooden base. The various process involved in the same are loading, sensing, positioning, punching and reloading. This sequential process continues until the requirement is achieved. The process is started and stopped using pushbuttons.
The above processes are controlled using the Programmable logic controller. The outputs of the sensors are given as inputs to the PLC and the PLC outputs are given to the solenoid valves which actuates the cylinders. The sensors are mounted in the extended and retracted positions of both loading and punching cylinders.
The PLC BASED PNEUMATIC NAMEPLATE PUNCHING may be used in many industries for punching the nameplates. The project may be used in industries involving the manufacture of the machine tools, motors, generators, pumps, boilers and vessels, automobile parts and engines and wherever name plate punching is essential for the marketing of the product.
